A call for help: Woman plunges to her death

She called for help, but it was too late. A young woman, 19, is dead after reportedly falling 26 storeys from a Whalley highrise after midnight on Wednesday. The young woman called a loved one to say she was being beaten up in the unit of a Whalley highrise. Surrey RCMP responded immediately, but the woman fell to her death in the presence of police officers in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2014. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case. One man is in custody. He is known to police, including domestic abuse violations. More details to come as they become known.
