New Year's tradition continues with icy dip in Nelson

A New Year's Day tradition since 1997, the Polar Bear Dip went off with a splash at Lakeside Park Wednesday.

Possibly the biggest crowd yet braved the icy waters of Kootenay Lake at the stroke of noon.

Organized by the Nelson Rhythm Ropers this year, the skipping group jumped in taking on the fundraising event.

Spectators cheered on folks hitting the water and fun was had by all.
