Spirit of Kelowna submerged in Okanagan Lake

The Spirit of Kelowna paddlewheeler is partially under water, off the shores of Kalamoir Park, a RDCO regional park, within the District of West Kelowna’s Water Zone.

"The District of West Kelowna’s Bylaw Enforcement Division has contacted a relative of the boat’s owner and was advised that a local marine services company has been hired," said Kirsten Jones, of the District of West Kelowna in a press release.

"An oil ring is being placed around the sunken vessel to secure any leaking fuel and a dive team is expected to inspect the vessel today. It is anticipated the vessel will be re-floated today barring any unforeseen issues."

The vessel’s owner is being advised that non-recreational moorage or moorage more than 48 hours is not permitted within the District’s Water Zone.
