Voting underway on Comox Valley rural garbage and recycling referendum
A total of 136 ballots were cast last Tuesday in the first advance voting opportunity for the Nov. 16 rural garbage/recycling referendum.
The proposed weekly service would apply to areas A, B and C, excluding Denman and Hornby islands, Royston and Mount Washington. Cost per homeowner is about $150 per year.
Service will commence in September if the referendum passes. There would be no opting out of the service.
Other advance votes are being held the next two Wednesdays, Nov. 6 and 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the CVRD boardroom at 550B Comox Rd. in Courtenay.
General voting day is Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the boardroom and these locations:
- 1. Living Waters Church – 222 Regent Rd., Black Creek
- 2. North Island Distance School – 2505 Smith Rd., Courtenay
- 3. Union Bay community hall – 5401 Island Hwy South, Union Bay
