4 police officers hurt after BMW crashes into Vancouver Fatburger
Four Vancouver police officers were injured and rushed to hospital after a woman drove her car through the front window of a Fatburger restaurant in downtown Vancouver on Sunday night.
The officers were eating inside the restaurant on Denman Street when the BMW crashed into the burger joint around 8 p.m. They were taken away in serious but non-life-threatening condition and the driver was also taken to hospital, although she's reportedly not injured.
On Monday, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said all four officers are recovering at home from various injuries and the crash is under investigation.
"It doesn't look like alcohol is a factor at this point — something we'll look into, but early indications are that that's not the case," said Const. Brian Montague. (Read more from the CBC.)
In a press release, the VPD said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.
"Is this a case of her simply missing a turn? Is this a case of distracted driving? Those are things that we'll look at," Montague said. "We don't really know why this occurred. Our collision investigation team is here to try and determine that."
