Hyack to hold special meeting to remove executive
A special general meeting of the Hyack Festival Association has been called for Oct. 22 to vote on removing president Gavin Palmer and two other executive members.
There is also a counter-resolution from Palmer to dump two executive members and four board members.
The motions come in the wake of executive director Douglas Smith being fired July 31 by the Hyack executive and then later reinstated by the association's board of directors. Smith has since left because some conditions he set for his return, including removal of some executive members, were not met.
The Hyack special meeting agenda items are in the form of special resolutions that require 75 per cent approval.
Along with Palmer, special resolutions from the board of directors ask for the removal of treasurer Gloria Munro and vice-president Alan Wardle.
Palmer's special resolutions called for the removal of past-president Bill Radbourne and secretary Mariane Kazemir from the executive, and directors Ron Unger, Patti Goss, Stephen Lloyd and Michael Boncea from the Hyack board.
Ordinary resolutions from Palmer to appoint Ken McIntosh and Glen Richmond to the board have also been submitted, but they only require a majority vote to pass.
The meeting will be held at the Columbia Theatre. Registration starts at 6 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 6:45 p.m.
