Webb moving to Island District headquarters
Shawnigan Lake RCMP Sgt. Rob Webb is on the move next week.
After five years in his current capacity, Webb is transferring to Island District Headquarters as of Oct. 15 to work in a Human Resources role.
"After several years of uniform policing and detachment commander duties, I felt it was time for a change and have been awarded this opportunity,'' Webb noted.
"The quick date is not because I am in trouble,'' he quipped. "This position had been a goal of mine after my time here and it has finally come open.
"I recognize that I was and am very fortunate to have been able to return to the community I grew up in and essentially be the sheriff of Shawnigan/sheriff of South Cowichan.''
Webb will not be breaking ties with the valley entirely. He's going to continue living in the area.
"I look forward to remaining here in the Cowichan Valley,'' he indicated. "I have learned a great deal in my time here.
"Unfortunately, too much tragedy, however, I made many new friends, renewed old acquaintances since I have been back.''
Webb reserved a special thanks for all emergency services personnel, and especially all the volunteer fire departments, for such extraordinary dedication above and beyond the call of duty.
As for Webb's replacement, he hinted an announcement will be made soon and little or no disruption should occur.
