Fire Chief John Lane resigns
Two years after taking on the position of fire chief in Prince George, John Lane has tendered his resignation.
Lane took over the helm in June 2011, replacing Jeff Rowland, who served in the position for eight years until his retirement.
Lane was deputy chief when he was chosen to fill the role of fire chief, transitioning into the role as Rowland retired. Lane was working as a paramedic in Hamilton when he joined the Toronto fire service in 1990. In 1995 he became a training officer, then a district fire chief in 2000.
In 2005 he was hired as a deputy chief in the city.
Deputy chief, John Iverson, will fill the role of chief as Lane's interim replacement.
The city will not comment on the resignation since the policy is not to comment on personnel matters.
