Shed fire spreads to trees before being extinguished
A shed fire in Fairview Wednesday afternoon started to spread to nearby trees before fire fighters extinguished the blaze.
At 5:19 p.m. the Nelson Fire Department responded to a report of a shed on fire at 811-6th Street.
“Upon arrival of the first crew, a fully involved utility shed was observed with the fire spreading to the trees,” said Michael Daloise, assistant fire chief in a press release.
Four members responding from home joined the initial on-duty crew and their primary objective was to ensure the fire didn’t spread further into the trees.
“The shed was directly on the bank of the creek and crews had to be cautious as they extinguished the fire,” said Daloise.
Two fire engines and one utility vehicle were used to fight this fire and no injuries are reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the fire department and the Nelson Police Department.
Considering hot and dry conditions, interface fires are a concern and the Nelson Fire Department is able to provide free home risk assessments by contacting them.
