Police stand up for hot dogs
The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 100 calls for service from July 5th, 8 AM till July 8th, 8 AM. During the same time period there were 32 people lodged in Terrace Cells. 21 of these people were lodged for public intoxication.
Here are some of the calls they responded to:
Numerous calls received about dogs left in hot cars. Police spoke with dog owners about option of leaving the dogs at home or at the minimum ensuring numerous windows are left open for air flow and drinking water is available.
Fraud investigation at Canadian Tire. Items not originally purchased from the store were returned to the store.
A man at a residence attempting to gain access to a woman whom he recently assaulted in a domestic dispute. He left prior to police attendance. Police located the man driving on Kleanza Dr. He was arrested for breach. He provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.
Two salmon fishing rods, a tackle bag, and two camping coolers were stolen from a campground on Ferry Island during the night of July 4/5.
A 36 yr old man in breach of probation conditions to not be in Safeway. Police located the man and arrested him for breach. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
Two firearms that were no longer wanted were turned in for destruction.
Pedestrian motor vehicle collision on Keith Ave at a Pedestrian controlled intersection. A 25 yr old woman on a bike was struck by a red 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. She was launched through the air and struck her head on the windshield of the car. She was not wearing a helmet. She was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment of injuries received. The 33 yr old driver of the car was also taken to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for assessment.
Two young men on bicycles checking for unlocked vehicles on Johnson Rd.
CN Police pulled over a vehicle on Substation Rd for failing to stop at the stop sign. The 34 yr old driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Tumbler Ridge. CN Police transported the man to Terrace RCMP cells.
A man was punched in the face several times while working at a local grocery store. Police arrested a 32 yr old man for assault. Ongoing familial dispute. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
Man in breach of a no contact order. Police arrested a 55 yr old man for breaching his conditions of an undertaking. Johannes Klukas has been charged with breach of an undertaking x 7. He is remanded for court.
A 42 yr old man threatened by a driver from Kalum Cabs. Police spoke with the people involved. The man had ordered a beer delivery. When the cab company delivered they were met by the intoxicated belligerent man who would not provide payment so the driver left with the beer. This upset the drunken group who were now out of alcohol so felt the need to involve the police. Advice was given on the matter.
Single vehicle rollover on Westside Rd. The 23 yr old driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. She was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. She refused to provide a sample of breath. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The 20 yr old passenger was also transported by BC Ambulance to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries received. The white 1997 Jeep Cherokee sustained major damage and was towed.
Break and enter to a residence on Walsh Ave sometime on July 6th between 7:10 PM and 8 PM. A 42 inch LG TV was stolen.
Third hand information of a domestic assault. Police arrested a 37 yr old man for breaching a Conditional Sentence Order of abstaining from the consumption and possession of intoxicating substances. This is his third breach. He is held for court.
A grey 2006 Honda Civic was pulled over on Hwy 16. The 20 yr old driver had a Class 7 license. He was in contravention of his passenger limit. He provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. He was issued a driving suspension.
A black 2007 Ford F350 with BC LP# DF0181 was stolen from Pheasant St.
Drunken brawl outside of a residence on Davis Ave. Three people were arrested for public intoxication. Police returned a short time later and arrested a 17 yr old intoxicated girl who was acting in an irrational manner inside of a residence.
Construction workers playing loud music while reshingling a roof on Rowland St. Police spoke with the company owner. Terrace Bylaws prohibit construction on Sundays in residential areas.
Motor vehicle incident involving a motor cycle on Kalum Lake Dr/Frank St.
An 11 and 8 yr old locked themselves into the truck of a car. The key was missing.
A white 2013 Nissan Sentra was pulled over at Onion Lake on Hwy 37 for going 119 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. Police were directed to serve a driving prohibition on the 21 yr old driver.
Report of an intoxicated driver in a red 1998 Chevrolet Blazer at the Wholesale Club. Police spoke with the 33 yr old woman who was sober but did not have a driver’s license. Police seized the keys for the registered owner to pick up at a later time.
Suicidal 23 yr old woman threatening to jump off the new bridge on Hwy 16. Police spoke with the woman and transported her to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
Intoxicated woman pacing back and forth and pulling out her hair near the old bridge. Police found the 39 yr old woman. She was upset over the loss of a blue and yellow Trek 6 speed bike being stolen. She was transported to a shelter. A short time later police reattended and removed the woman due to her level of intoxication and irrational behavior.
A fishing rod was found in front of the TD Bank on Lakelse Ave.
Police assisted BC Ambulance on Hwy 16/River Dr with a 30 yr old woman who had overdosed.
