Nanaimo Mounties need help to ID bait car suspect

Nanaimo RCMP hope the public can help track down a woman who broke into one of their bait cars.
The suspect was photographed from the bait car at 12:38 a.m. May 28 when the car was parked in the 300 block of Ninth Street.
Police describe her as Caucasian, 30 to 35 years old with brown hair pulled back with a hair clip.
She was attempting to take a wallet when the bait car’s camera caught her image.
“The bait car was activated and we were alerted to that, but because we had members tied up with things we couldn’t set up a containment situation and she actually got away,” said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien. “She didn’t steal the car, she stole items from the car.”
Anyone with information about the suspect is ask to call Nanaimo RCMP at 754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
