Civilians honoured for helping Kelowna RCMP
Two civilians are the recipients of a Certificate of Appreciation from the Kelowna RCMP after helping to apprehend a robbery suspect last summer.
In a presentation Monday, Jane Hahn and Sean Hansson were honoured for helping police quickly track down and arrest a bank robbery suspect minutes after the offence occurred last August.
Their assistance allowed police to help recover an imitation firearm and stolen cash and was also beautifully timed with new powers of arrest announced by federal government allowing citizens to make an arrest on behalf of police with reasonable suspicion of a crime.
As a result of the events, Brian Christie Miranada was charged with robbery and intentionally disguising himself to commit a crime and using an imitation firearm to commit a crime.
