A 25-year-old woman struck in a crosswalk by a vehicle at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue late Monday evening has died from her injuries.

New Westminster police say Gemma Snowball, an Australian native living in New West, was hit by a vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Monday. She was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital, where she passed away Wednesday, while the driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by investigators.

The department's police traffic section is continuing its investigation and are asking any witnesses to the incident to contact Const. Jamie Crowston or Const. Jeff Scott at 604-525-5411.

Police also said it is unknown if charges will be laid.
