Fire breaks out at Port Coquitlam warehouse
Port Coquitlam fire officials are investigating after a blaze broke out at a storage warehouse on Kingsway Avenue Friday afternoon.
No one was injured in the incident, which took place shortly before noon, and fire chief Nick Delmonico said officials are still trying to determine the cause.
"They have managed to put it out," he said. "It wasn't overly huge."
The building was quickly evacuated and PoCo's full compliment of equipment and firefighters were able to get to the scene quickly.
Once crews arrived, they were able to knock down the fire quickly, thanks in part to the help of the building's sprinkler system.
"There was lots of fuel but luckily there were sprinklers," he said. "Without sprinklers this would be a whole other phone call."
