Prince Rupert Airport Authority seeking a reduction in vehicle fee for Digby Island Ferry
The president of the Prince Rupert Airport Authority is calling for a $30 reduction in the fee for personal vehicles to travel to the airport.
In a letter to city council, to be discussed on March 4, Maureen Macarenko said the current $45 fee adds to the negative impression of airport customers "using dilapidated bus services and an outdated ferry" and is driving people to Terrace to park and fly out of the Northwest Regional Airport. Since very few are willing to pay the $45 fee to take their car to Digby Island, Macarenko said the airport authority is unable to charge a parking fee.
Macarenko is asking council to reduce the fee from $45 to $15.
