Help wanted to find stolen aboriginal art
Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public for help to find two aboriginal art paintings stolen from a home in mid January.
The owner of the paintings left Nanaimo in late December to visit family in Victoria. She returned to her home on Cobblestone Place, in Nanaimo's Diver Lake area, Jan. 13 to discover the paintings were gone. Nothing else was taken from her home and there were no signs of forced entry to the residence.
The ink prints, referred to as Dorset paintings for the Arctic regions they depict, measure 18" by 24" and are valued at several thousand dollars each.
Anyone with information about the location of the prints is asked to call Const. Eric Reitner at Nanaimo RCMP detachment, 250-754-2345, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
