Penticton firefighters (inset) Capt. Tom Smith (left) and Randy Wilkes talk over the strategy in front of a single-family home at 1109 Kilarney St. as smoke billows from the main entrance and roof of the structure Monday. Officials on the scene believe the fire started in a crawl space however the cause had not been determined. The call came in just before 2 p.m. when someone reported seeing smoke coming from the building. No one was home at the time and officials say there was some fire damage in the area of the crawl space and significant smoke and water damage in other parts of the house.
