No injuries or charges resulting from dump truck rollover

Shawnigan Lake RCMP attended the scene of a dump truck rollover at noon Thursday, Feb. 21 on Shawnigan Lake Road which looked far worse than it really was.

The 2007 Mack truck pulling a trailer was heading westbound when its tires hit gravel and pulled the trailer into the ditch.

The trailer was badly damaged but no injuries and no other vehicles were involved.

"After speaking with the driver and witnesses it was confirmed speed and alcohol were not factors," reported Sgt. Rob Webb of the Shawnigan detachment.

Meanwhile the 600-block section of Shawnigan Lake Road was closed while the trucking company arranged for a crane to attend the scene and remove the trailer from the ditch onto a flatbed trailer for transportation.

Cleanup took about two hours.

No charges are anticipated.
