Cause of Vernon house fire is undetermined at this time
The cause of a Vernon house fire remains unknown.
Firefighters were called to the 4200 block of 33rd Street at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
“There was smoke emanating from all doors and windows,” said Keith Green, fire chief.
The fire was located in the basement of the structure, which contains four residential suites.
“There were a lot of electrical wires hanging around and the electrical inspector has been called in. At this time, the cause is undetermined.”
No one was home at the time of the fire and there is widespread damage.
“The crews kept it to a small portion of one room but it got into the floor joists,” said Green, who isn’t sure if the building can be salvaged.
