Williams Lake RCMP seek public help locating suspect after receiving a sexual assault complaint

Update: RCMP add more details of the truck's description after speaking to additional witnesses.

Williams Lake RCMP are asking for public assistance locating and identifying a male who sexually assaulted a female in Williams Lake on the afternoon of Feb. 4, 2013.

The suspect offered the victim a ride to her home at about 2:30 p.m. When they arrived, he followed her inside her home and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as Caucasian or "at least a lighter complexion," between 35 and 40 years old, black hair, approximately 5 feet 10 inches, with a gap between his front teeth.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a single cab pick-up truck, with no seating behind the driver. It is possibly a 1990s GMC or Chevrolet, primarily white in colour with a dark blue four to six inch stripe down the side. There were two dream catchers hanging from the rearview mirror.

It is not a new truck, but appeared to be well kept and cared for, the victim told police.

Any member of the public who has seen or knows of a vehicle and/or associated driver matching the description is asked to contact Cpl. Jason Pole with the Williams Lake RCMP or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Police are reminding the public to be cautious about accepting rides from strangers.
