Chilliwack man, 24, charged with attempted murder
A 24-year-old Chilliwack man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged assault last week on his roommate, a 47-year-old woman.
Police are releasing few details of the allegations because the case in now before the courts.
Chilliwack RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth said police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call on Jan. 14 at 11:40 p.m. from a caller who said a neighbour in the 46700-block Yale Road was calling for help.
"Upon arrival, the police located a man who had allegedly assaulted his roommate," Hollingsworth said in a Tuesday news release.
She said Matthew David Alderman, 24, was arrested at the residence without incident, and has since been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Alderman remains in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 29 in Chilliwack provincial court for a show cause hearing.
The victim remains in hospital with undisclosed injuries, Hollingsworth said.
