UPDATE: Penticton man killed in northern B.C. vehicle accident
A Penticton man was killed in a motor vehicle accident this week in northern B.C.
The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed the identity of the man to be 43-year-old John Darrell McIntosh, who was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck that was involved in the collision.
Mackenzie RCMP said the collision happened around 12:58 p.m. on Jan. 7 and involved a logging truck and the pickup McIntosh was driving.
The two vehicles were driving on a single-lane bridge at the 93-kilometre marker of the Finlay Forest Service Road near Mackenzie at the time of the incident.
Industrial first-aid workers and emergency personnel attended the scene of the incident where McIntosh was confirmed deceased.
Police confirmed the Penticton man was working in the Fort Ware area at the time of the incident.
RCMP Const. Lesley Smith, North District media relations officer, said there is nothing to suggest the incident is a criminal matter at this time.
“The B.C. Coroner with the assistance of Mackenzie RCMP and the North District traffic analyst will continue to investigate this tragic incident,” said Smith.
