Abbotsford's first baby of 2013 is a girl
A baby girl born at Abbotsford Regional Hospital was the Lower Mainland's second baby of the new year.
The girl, who was born at 12:42 a.m., weighed 6 pounds, five ounces. Parents Bryanna Giroux and Jackson Vanderveen of Chilliwack have not yet chosen her name.
The first baby born in the Lower Mainland in 2013 was a boy, Shane Greenwood, born at 12:26 a.m. at Langley Memorial Hospital and weighing 9 pounds, 5 ounces.
But Shane entered the world too late to claim the title of the first baby born in B.C.
That honour went to David Junior Ricky Joe James, who was born at 12:02 a.m. at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces.
