Mount Washington setting records again

Mount Washington setting records again With the snow base at almost 500 cm Mount Washington Alpine Resort is enjoying the second deepest December in the resort’s 33-year history. “It doesn’t get any better than this,” resort spokesman Brent Curtain said Friday. The resort is also welcoming large crowds, more than 5,000 on Thursday. Mount Washington has opened the mountain’s steep and deep backside giving skiers and boarders access to 100 per cent of the mountain’s alpine terrain. In addition to alpine, the resort has also opened an additional 27 kms of its Nordic terrain, bringing the Nordic Centre to full mid-winter operation. “We’ve been fortunate enough to open the entire mountain this early only a handful of times in our resort history,” says Curtain. “We are experiencing snow depths and conditions that you would normally see in February. It’s been a phenomenal start to the season.” - Photo courtesy Mount Washington Alpine Resort
