IKEA scene of shooting, no injuries

Multiple shots were fired late Tuesday afternoon in the covered parking area beneath the massive new IKEA store on Bridgeport Road, Richmond Mounties confirmed.

Richmond RCMP Cpl. Sherrdean Turley said police responded to a report of shots fired at 4:30 p.m.

"The incident occurred in the parkade and miraculously no one was injured.  There was also no property damage," she said. "Suspects fled prior to police arrival and the reasons this incident occurred are not yet known."

ScanBC tweeted about it shortly after the incident: "Report of shots fired in the underground parking @IKEACanadaPossibly multiple shooters. Victim fled scene. 3320 Jacombs Rd#RichmondBC"

While ScanBC refers to a "victim" who fled the scene, police did not provide any additional information about that, but said further information might be released later.

Meanwhile, investigators are requesting witnesses to contact them.
