Drivers treated for minor injuries after vehicles hit hydro pole three kilometres north of Lac La Hache
On Dec. 4 at 2:35 p.m. a black S.U.V. travelling south on Highway 97, three kilometres north of Lac La Hache, left the travelled portion of the highway, entered the ditch and struck a hydro pole.
The pole collapsed and another south-bound vehicle struck the still-energized downed wires across the highway.
Emergency crews responded from Lac La Hache and 100 Mile House.
In a press release the 100 Mile House RCMP said both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene by ambulance and released.
The highway was opened intermittently while B.C. Hydro crews made the scene safe and while the vehicles were removed. The highway was fully reopened at 5 p.m.
RCMP said the male driver of the S.U.V. is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel. The matter is still under investigation.
