Dan (Danny) Rikkinen is missing, and his family is anxious to locate him.

Niece Denise Powell said Friday her uncle has been missing since the morning of Nov. 23, when he was last seen leaving a Langley hotel to visit his wife, Diane, in Langley Memorial Hospital.

The possible Cowichan connection is that the couple was moving to the north island's Sayward where Rikkinen, 59, also has family.

"This is really, really odd for him," Powell said, noting her uncle has no addictions nor history of mental or physical illness.

"This is extremely out of character for him."

Police have also been alerted about Rikkinen's sudden disappearance.

He's described as stocky Caucasian, five-foot six, with sandy brown-grey hair, and blue eyes.

Rikkinen may be driving a maroon, 1993 Chev Cheyenne pick-up truck, with canopy, license-plate EH2194.

If you see Rikkinen, call North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522, Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200, or 911.
