Vintage vehicle and auto parts stolen from Vernon business

Public assistance is being sought after $70,000 worth of items were taken from a Vernon business.

On either Friday or Saturday, a grey or silver enclosed trailer was stolen from the 8400 block of Silver Star Road. Inside the trailer was a 1934 Ford pickup requiring restoration and hot rod automobile parts.

"The individual may not have known what was inside when it was hooked up," said Gord Molendyk, with the RCMP.

The trailer was parked at an automobile restoration business.

"The items belonged to one of his clients," said Molendyk.

"These kinds of trailers are stolen often at this kind of year. In the winter, they can be full of sleds (snowmobiles). There is a market for the parts and the trailer. This kind of vehicle, if it's fully restored, there will also be a market for."

The trailer's license plate was 82463C.

Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
