• News Leader Pictorial cartoonist Rob Kernachan’s talented hands aren’t just put to use skewering local politics. He’s launched a new website hue-nue-artworks.com, where you can check out his acrylic West Coast landscapes (and even a few ‘toons).
• On Nov. 22, Heffel Fine Art Auction House will host the 2012 Fall Auction, presenting works by Canada’s greatest artists, including Cowichan’s E.J. Hughes. The auction includes rare-to-the-market war drawings by Hughes including Patrol on Kiska in 1943 (Estimate: $25,000 to $35,000) and Unloading Supplies, Kiska 1943 (Estimate: $25,000 to $35,000). Other significant works include View of a Freighter at Crofton, B.C. (Estimate: $70,000 to $90,000).
