Fatal traffic accident in Williams Lake on Nov. 11
A vehicle accident that took place Nov. 11 in Williams Lake has claimed the life of one male passenger and seriously injured a female passenger.
At around 3 p.m. Sunday, RCMP Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services and BC Ambulance attended the scene of a single vehicle accident located approximately .3 km up the Dog Creek Rd. off Hwy. 20.
A 2010 white Dodge pick-up truck, with a driver and four passengers, had rolled off the road.
Four injured occupants were transported by ambulance to Cariboo Memorial Hospital for treatment, one of them, a male, was pronounced dead on arrival, said Cst. Rick Meaver with RCMP Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services. A female passenger was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital.
Interior Roads closed the road to the public shortly after 3 p.m. while traffic services investigated the scene, keeping the road closed for several hours. It was closed again on Nov. 12 for further investigation.
The cause of the collision is unknown, however it is suspected that speed may have been a factor.
The name of the deceased has been withheld at this time, said Bob Verbree, Regional Commander Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services.
Investigation into the accident continues and anyone witnesses or people with information about the incident are asked to contact the RCMP in Williams Lake at 250-392-6211,
