A man who triggered the lockdown of an elementary school in Maple Ridge was arrested Thursday, a week after.

Ridge Meadows RCMP found Clayton Quigley in a house on Dewdney Trunk Road. He was taken into custody around 9 p.m.

Police have been searching for Quigley since Nov. 1 after he seen trying to break into a business on River Road.

Quigley alleged assaulted a police officer while trying to flee. His actions trigged the lockdown of Albion elementary on 240th Street as police fanned out across the neighbourhood to search for him.

"After the events on Nov. 1, Mr. Quigley became a priority for our detachment," said Supt. Dave Walsh.

"His actions that day caused the lock down of an elementary school, and concerned our entire community.  This arrest was made with minimal danger to police and public in the area."

RCMP have forwarded their report to Crown Counsel with a recommendation that Quigley also be charged with assaulting a peace officer.

Walsh thanked residents, police officers and civilian employees of the RCMP who assisted investigators with the file.

Quigley was held in police custody overnight for a court appearance on Friday.
