Asleep at the wheel

Campbell River RCMP and North Island Traffic Services responded to a report of a single vehicle accident on Highway 28, about six kilometres west of the Quinsam Mine turnoff.

Investigators discovered that the 37-year-old male driver was traveling eastbound when he fell asleep. The vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, went off the road and struck a tree causing extensive damage.

The driver was not wearing his seatbelt but his passenger was. Both parties were transported to Campbell River Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
