Protestors voice concerns over Deltaport expansion
A small group of protestors waved placards Wednesday morning as they marched around the Hilton Hotel where a Deltaport expansion stakeholder meeting was taking place.
The group is concerned about the project's threat on agricultural lands and described it as a billion-dollar boondoggle.
Delta South NDP candidate Nic Slater, who joined Richmond's De Whalen and former trustee Sandra Bourque in the modest protest, said a much better way—in terms of efficiency and safety—to transport goods is via barge on the waterways.
