Preventing cancer at the next Green Drinks

Another Green Drinks event is planned at the Rock Cut on June 7, this time focused on pesticide-free growing.

"Diana Daghofer [of Prevent Cancer Now] is going to do a short presentation," said Lea Thuot of the Sustainability Commission, who hosts this regular event that gets people together to talk about issues that impact our lives and our environment.

"Suzanne Belanger with the Canadian Cancer Society will also be there with chemical and pesticide-free info."

The format will be quite informal. "Diana will speak for about 15 minutes, and then folks will be free to mingle and have a drink and a chat with others in the community with similar interests," Thuot said.

In addition, Thuot has invited "local experts" and others with specific gardening knowledge to attend the event, "to chat with people about growing pesticide free."

Daghofer's presentation will begin at 7 p.m., and the event is free to attend.
