Keep an eye out for the exotic-looking catalpa
This catalpa tree graces the garden of a home on Village Drive on Cates Hill.

Jennifer Hall first saw a catalpa in Dundarave and was so taken by the tree that she phoned the municipality to find out its name. It was only three years ago that Hall purchased her tree. It was about five feet and she just managed to fit it in her car. It has grown generously every year and is covered with buds and blooms this year. The enormous heart-shaped leaves draw your attention when you are driving down the road past her home at 972 Village Drive. There are two yellow blotches at the mouth of the large tubular foxglove-like white flowers that are flecked with purple in the throat. It will form long skinny bean-like seed pods that hang straight down giving the tree a distinctive fall silhouette because these pods linger through the winter.
