Bring your bike to the bandstand: HUB
On Saturday, HUB volunteers will be at the Haney Farmers Market with a free bike tune-up workshop, happy to share their bike repair and maintenance skills with anyone who wants to learn.
You can find us in the bandstand, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bring your bike and learn some basic repairs, such as fixing a flat or adjusting the brakes.
If you drop by between 10 a.m. and noon, we will have a qualified CanBike instructor on site who can tell you and your kids all about bike safety.
The first 25 people to arrive at the bandstand with their bikes will receive a $5 market shopping coupon, donated by the Haney Farmers Market.
Also this weekend is the annual Art Studio Tour, Saturday and Sunday.
This year HUB is excited to be able to offer an Art Studio Tour by bike on Sunday. We’ll be starting the ride at The ACT at 10 a.m.
The easy 19-kilometre route leads us mostly along quieter residential roads and some off-road paths.
There are six art studios along the route, with a variety of art mediums represented.
Join us on this ride not only to explore the amazing local arts scene, but also to discover how easy and fun it is to get around on your own power and meet some new people.
You can either ride with the group, or, if you prefer to go at your own pace, we will give you a map of the route.
Insurance for this ride is provided by HUB, both for members and non-members. All participants will need to sign a waiver before the start of the ride.
The RCMP, the district’s engineering department and the fire department kindly request participants to ride single file, wear helmets, obey all traffic regulations, especially at intersections, and to yield to emergency vehicles.
My own request is just to come and enjoy the ride with us.
• Pre-registration for this free ride would be much appreciated, so that we have an idea as to how many people to expect. Please e-mail me at email@example.com.
Jackie Chow is a member of the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows chapter of HUB.
