When quilters from around the area gathered in Qualicum Beach for their annual Christmas quilt show on Saturday, they brought more than mere comfy blankets.

There was no shortage of that, of course, in every pattern and colour of the rainbow, but the talented artisans of the Parksville Quilthouse Quilters have expanded their repertoire to include dazzling quilted jackets and even quilted covers for e-readers.

Lola Denesyk, the  past president of the guild said most of the members are eclectic artisans who try their hands at many other areas of craftsmanship, including jewelry and dying, among others.
