Celebrating B.C. at Gyro Park

Guess we’ve made it through the better part of the ‘dog days’ of summer already. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the 40-day period is over August 11. I always relate the dog days to baseball for some reason, perhaps just the fact that they occur during the baseball season and what better way to spend a hot afternoon than at the ballpark?
I did just that on Saturday and watched the Orioles and the Trail Jays put on a good show at Butler Park. Although they both lost the games I attended, they were both close games and could have gone either way right up until the last out. Good luck to both teams as they continue tournament play.
There’s lots of fun to be had at Gyro Park on Sunday. The West Kootenay Boundary Regional Spirit of BC Committee is hosting a BC150 party promising a free family fun day. There will be entertainment from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. Don’t miss Craig Moritz, a very talented upcoming country music star as he performs most of the afternoon.
If you don’t have an air conditioner in your home or office, I’ll bet you’re wishing you did! Solve your overheating problems at A&P Furniture where you’ll find over 100 air conditioners in stock. Starting at just $99, why are you still suffering?
Get out and enjoy the heat at the Rossland Trail Country Club. Take in the ‘beat the heat’ special and ride the 18 holes for a terrific price.
I’m willing to bet that most of the vehicles on the A.M. Ford lot are equipped with air conditioning. Take advantage of family pricing on new inventory and push, pull or drag your trade-in for a guaranteed $2,000 trade in allowance. You’ll find lots of pre-owned stock to choose from, too.
Shopping locally is something we should all try to do and the price of fuel certainly gives us another reason to do so. The Golden City Trading Company has a sale on ladies and infant/toddler clothing and is also Rossland’s Sears catalogue outlet. I know Irene and her staff offer excellent selection and service.
Did you know you could have custom-made orthotics done at Red Point Footwear & Orthotics in Rossland? You can also have your favourite Birkenstocks re-built (or replace them if that’s your preference).
When you need a break from shopping, stop at Café Books West where you’ll find great books and great coffee.
And when you’re done, check out the new summer/fall menu at Gypsy at Red. You can dine on the patio every night this summer.
If you’re looking for that perfect piece of furniture to complete your decorating, visit The Niche Furniture Store in downtown Trail. Unique items are their specialty.
Are you a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to auto repairs? If that hasn’t been working so well for you lately, drop in to Minute Muffler & Brake. They’ll do the job right the first time and can service your RV, too.
Maybe you’ve tried to design your own website or logo? You’ve likely made your own business cards too. Why not contact Empire New Media and see what a professional can do?
Our Women in Business feature ends in this issue. I congratulate all the women we have featured and urge you all to stop by their businesses.
Our Home Plan feature welcomes Gordon Wall Windows and Floors to its pages this week.
We have a long weekend coming up to celebrate B.C. Day on August 4. We have changed our deadlines for our August 7 issue in order for our staff to have a long weekend too. Please note the changes for next week.
