Rabbits to hold registration and ski swap event this weekend
This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Golden Rabbits Program. We participate in Cross Country Canada’s Skill Development Program in which children aged 5 to 12 years are taught the proper techniques used in cross country skiing by trained volunteer coaches in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Lessons will be on Thursday afternoons at 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. in January, at the Golf Course and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for February and March at Dawn Mountain. Rabbits runs January 7 to March 4, 2010.
This year we are offering a program called “Racing Rabbits” which will run on Thursdays after school and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This program is designed to get the kids on their skis more and improving their fitness and skills. This is not a “racing” group, but simply a chance for your child to excel in this sport and spend more time with ski friends. If possible, let us know if you are interested by December 1 so we can line up the coaches.
The program costs cover trail fees, hot chocolate, insurance, registration with Cross Country BC and honorariums for our coaches. Everyone participating in Rabbits is required to bring his/her own equipment. Rentals may be available from Selkirk Sports and Kicking Horse Gear Exchange for this season. If you have questions regarding ski purchase or have some gear that you would like to sell please contact us.
We also have a Senior Ski Team for skiers aged 12 to 17 which is run by Troy Hudson. The Ski Team trains year round and currently has 11 members.
This season we are looking for more coaches. We will provide you with training and support if you would like to volunteer. For more information please contact us:
