Teams from Nelson, Trail and Cranbrook participated in the well attended a two-day tournament in Cranbrook recently.

The Golden Team had a very strong showing and bowled above average team scores throughout the weekend, Thank you  to “Down Memory Lanes” for all the great deals on practice time.  Everyone looked great in their new bowling jerseys, thanks to Shawna at Kicking Horse Embroidery and Rachelle Johnson for pulling it all together.

Golden’s coach, Jean Hogaboam, said, “I was very proud of the way the team bowled and the way they represented Golden. The athletes were happy with all the support they received from parents, workers and Special Olympics Golden.”

A big thank you  to all the community supporters of the Special Olympics, without you we would not be able to travel and experience great events like this.  The snow is here and our athletes will be starting cross country skiing very soon.  This winter the cross country team is in training for a loppet in Kelowna and also Golden’s very own Huckleberry Loppet. Bowling will continue throughout the winter.  For any new athletes, parents or volunteers out there interested in more information on our programs please contact Ned Johnson at 250.344.5524.
