GSS boys compete in Sparwood race

Over the cross country running season GSS students showed a lot of improvement in their pacing and overall running strength.  A lot of credit needs to go to the soccer coaches as many of the runners are also playing soccer through the week and on weekends.

On October 21, 2009, eight students from Golden Secondary School competed in the 8km cross country race in Sparwood B.C. We had the fastest runner in the East Kootenays; Nicholas Lambert. We had the fastest senior boys team results (first two boys are German exchange students!); Max Christman, Lucas Moeller, Nicholas Lambert and Micheal Burns. Other competitors (junior boys); Mark Soles (came third for junior guys), Zachary MacClean, Lochlan Noble and Dario Prather. We ran on different trails in the Golden and Nicholson areas in the weeks leading up to the competition in order to make the runners familiar with the massive amounts of trails in the woods and around the town.
