GSS boys soccer tourney
The GSS boys soccer team played through injuries to place fourth in the Invermere tournament last week.
Golden Secondary School’s senior boys soccer team made their way to Invermere last weekend for their second tournament of the year. Their first tournament in Nakusp brought the boys a 3rd place finish and a promising beginning to the season. This weekend proved to be more of a challenge for the team as they made their way to Invermere with missing players and injuries. On Friday the team played against Kimberley and Kaslo; losing to Kimberley 1-0 and winning against Kaslo 2-1. The team played two more games on Saturday which once again brought them one victory and one defeat; winning against Creston 1-0 and losing against Nakusp 2-1. Despite the fact that the team was playing with injuries, they were able to take home 4th place out of 8 teams. The team has no new tournaments scheduled at the moment until the 30th, but the boys will be playing practise games against Invermere, Kimberley, and other senior teams throughout the next few weeks. The boys have been practising hard this season and are planning on doing very well in their future tournament. The team shows great potential of being East Kootenay Champions at the end of the season.
