Soccer camp teaches players new skills
Kids from ages three to sixteen had the chance to learn some off-the-field skills at the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp held last week in Golden.
Last week a little bit of Britain came to Golden in the form of the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp.
The soccer camp was led by three soccer coaches from Britain, Ryan Clark, Jared Butterly and Shawn Clark. The five-day camp offered kids aged three to 16 a chance to learn about both on and off-the-field skills from British soccer coaches.
“We do all sorts of drills, and we also teach all the aspects of the game,” said coach/director Ryan Clark.
As well as learning new skills, campers also learned the importance of showing respect to the game, responsibility to teammates, leadership, integrity and sportsmanship.
On the last day of camp the teams got together for the “World Cup”; a final competition with all the campers.
The camp is one of over 2000 that are operating throughout the US and Canada, with over 100,000 kids participating and 750 coaches.
