Reflecting on Remembrance Day

As I reflect on Remembrance Day and my grandfather who fought in World War 11, I am truly grateful for the sacrifices that our soldiers have made and continue to make to ensure our freedom and our democracy.  So I am truly saddened at the mockery Gordon Campbell and his Liberals made of this hard won democracy over the weekend by ramming through legislation to end the paramedic strike, violating paramedics’ constitutional rights. The lack of a negotiated settlement rests solely in the lap of the government who continuously disrespects paramedics on a daily basis. BC is not a Dictatorship. As people who have benefitted from the sacrifices others have made for our freedom, we have a responsibility to make sure not to let their sacrifices be in vain. It is time to say no more to a man who has let power and greed corrupt democratic values! To the paramedic professionals, I say thank you for all you do every day in spite of this government, to provide treatment and care when we need it. You have my unconditional support. To our veterans and soldiers, I say thank you for your sacrifice. May we not let it be in vain.
