Thanks to GeorgeStock organizers:
If you were lucky enough to find yourself grooving under the Golden stars of the enchanting night that was GeorgeStock, then you will appreciate the vision and hard work that went into making the grassroots community celebration such a huge draw to the end of Lapp Rd.
On September 12th, 2009, roughly 1,000 people attended the 11th year of what many veterans lovingly refer to as quite simply “George’s party.” Hosted by long-time residents George Otcenasek and his beautiful wife Kris, the event is intended to celebrate the growing depth of the community; its people and their relationships.
This week, I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on George’s Party relative to its purpose. As a result of attending this party several times over the years I have cultivated and nourished countless enduring relationships. In truth, this is perhaps the only event I know of whereby individuals are willing to quit their jobs (if required) to be present, whereby friends fly friends in from opposite ends of the country, and whereby critical judgment of others (despite the diverse group of people) is suspended.
Thank you George and Kris, for your inspirational vision, for sharing your scenic property, for bringing only the best in local and global music talent, and for doing it all with the most authentic smiles on your faces.
Sincerely hopeful for a GeorgeStock XII in 2010,
