Re: All of Bob Munro’s past babbles

If I were to be running for the position of Mayor, I wouldn’t be slamming and insulting my possible future colleagues. After reading all of your banter and promises, I had to pause for a moment and shake my head. It was like you were reading straight from the minutes of the past few meetings. Most of these promises would be easy to keep since we are already in the process of doing almost all of them. So Mr. Munro, what could you possibly bring to the table that we don’t already have? Leadership? You call us floundering, backward thinkers, with a lack of foresight and pro-active planning. Could you straighten out this dysfunctional group of Neanderthals? Personally, I don’t think so! The majority of us are new councillors and have been working many many hours volunteering our time to build and bring Golden into the 21st Century. Most of us were born here and our families before that. We do understand the needs of the community because we are that community! A very fine line! The old guard doesn’t want any change, and the new school wants it all changed. With Virk at the helm, we charged head first into this and wanted a very public and open forum for all to be involved. This is the first time since we’ve been elected, that you have shown your face, and it’s not pretty to look at. You insult and degrade the town staff, which has worked diligently on building and creating a beautiful town square with grant monies and without the taxpayers of Golden pitching in. They have worked on building a broadband network in Golden! This doesn’t seem like a “lack of foresight” to me. They keep the streets paved and the sewers running! This doesn’t seem like a lack of planning either. Most of the by-laws we have are seriously outdated and need to be adjusted to today’s standards. This is a job for staff to do. I’m surprised at you Mr. Munro, as a former councillor, you know how the system works. Did you forget? Were you not paying attention? Or were you the “I” in team?
