No incidents on Halloween
Updated: November 07, 2009 11:49 AM
The Golden Detachment RCMP are pleased to announce that no significant problems occurred during this years' Halloween night.
The police had a full complement of officers on the street who were able to conduct patrols through the entire evening, transitioning from monitoring the children as the swarmed the neighbourhoods "Trick or Treating", to controlling several house parties and the numerous adult celebrants in and wandering between the licensed establishments down town. The police were assisted in this regard to a significant extent by four volunteers with the Golden Citizens on Patrol (COP), who operated out of two vehicles throughout the course of the night.
These volunteers also handed out discount vouchers donated by local businesses including the A&W, McDonald's restaurant, Tim Horton's and Bargain Shop to the children they encountered early in the evening.
Revellers encountered through the course of the evening were found to be cordial and in festive spirit, and no incidents of violence or serious mischief occurred.
The Golden RCMP would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers in the Golden COP, who selflessly commit their time on weekend nights and other busy periods, patrolling the streets of Golden, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the police personnel on duty.
The Golden COP are currently seeking new volunteers, anyone with interest is encouraged to contact Cpl. Dave Kronlund of the Golden RCMP at 250-344-2221.
