Dead bear hangs from bridge, RCMP investigate
2008 May 02 0800 Hrs.
Golden RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Hwy just east of Golden. A 1993 Subaru driven by a 34 year old male from Golden drove onto the shoulder of the road to avoid a passing vehicle. The vehicle went into the ditch and hit a pole. Approximately $8000 damage to the car. No injuries to the driver or passenger.
2008 May 02
Golden RCMP reported that one of their police vehicles had items thrown on the vehicle. When police drove in the area two youths were observed on bikes. The youths dropped the bikes and fled on foot. One youth was caught. The youth admitted to taking the bike and throwing items on the police vehicle that was parked at a private residence. No formal charges are being looked at in this instance, however the local Alternative Measures Program operated by civilian volunteers in Golden will be dealing with the file.
2008 May 05 0130 Hrs.
Golden RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Hwy three kms. east of Golden. A 2007 Nissan driven by a 40 year old male failed to negotiate a curve, over corrected and went into the ditch. Approximately $6000 damage to the vehicle. The driver was not injured. Driver was charged with Cross double solid line. $109 fine.
2008 May 03 1200 Hrs.
Golden RCMP arrested a 23 year old male for Fail to comply with his bail conditions. The male was under order to have no contact with another person. Subject is to appear in Golden provincial court 25 June.
2008 May 05
Golden RCMP were contacted by town employees that a dead bear was left hanging from a rope on the Pedestrian Bridge. Conservation office was advised. The bear was cut down by the Town employees. Golden RCMP are continuing with their investigation. Anyone with information on this is requested to contact the Golden Detachment.
2008 May 04
Golden RCMP received a report of a stolen trailer. Described as a Flat Deck Tandem trailer black in colour. 7 ft. wide, 20 ft. long. Custom steel box is on the trailer. Frame of the trailer is bent. This incident happened approximately one month ago and was only recently noticed.
