There are Tribute Bands... and there’s BC/DC.

According to their biography, unlike many tribute acts claiming to be “North America’s #1 Clone” or “Just Like the Real Thing”, BC/DC have turned the tables. The band takes a comedic approach, claiming the tunes as their own, and to having “heard of some BC/DC tribute band from Australia”. Adding to the schtick, the band members all go by comic aliases - lead singer Brendan Raftery’s Brian “Bon” Johnscottson paying respects to both AC/DC’s famous frontmen. It’s working. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

It’s about a maniac lead guitarist who occasionally enjoys wearing a cow suit. It’s about a frontman from the back alley, born to be a Rock n’ Roll Singer.

Remember the first time you believed in Rock n’ Roll? Welcome Back.

BC/DC will roar into Golden on Friday, August 28. Tickets on sale now at $15/person. Get your tickets at the Rockwater, Plain Wayne & Jayne, Syndicate Boardshop in Invermere, Lake Louise Bar & Grill and Rude Boys in Banff.

Considered the first Calgary-based hip hop group to make a mark on the national stage, Dragon Fli Empire is coming to Golden.

With a sound that is reminicent of De La Soul and Jurassic Five, Dragon Fli Empire is quickly rising in the hip-hop scene while staying true to their roots.

Emcee Teekay (Tarik Robinson) said the duo has been together for a little over seven years.

“We have grown from very humble beginnings to becoming the go-to Calgary hip-hop group.”

Robinson said his music started as a hobby and quickly became a passion. Growing his music throughout his high school years, Robinson met DJ Cosm, Adam Hicks, and upon recording one song together, they decided to become a band.

Since the release of the track Mount Pleasant, which has become a Calgary anthem, the band has really taken off. Robinson said it feels good to have reached the level they have, though he says there is always room to grow.

“It feels good to be one of the first recognized hip-hop groups to come out of Calgary and we’re going to continue to try and make our city proud.”

Dragon Fli Empire will be in Golden at the Rockwater on August 29.
