Impulse Dance held a dance camp last week that saw toes twinkling at the Mount 7 Rec Plex.

From August 10 - 14, dancers from Golden and dancers from Invermere’s Aspire Dance Studio came together for a week of fun and learning in a fast-paced environment.

Samara Tocher, a camp leader and choreography teacher at Impulse Dance Studio, said that participants learned dance combinations from every discipline including Irish and Cheer. On Friday August 14, the campers put on a performance for their families showcasing all they had learned throughout the week.

Tocher said that the girls worked really hard, dancing six hours a day and only having an hour to learn each routine.

All levels of dancer, from beginner to advanced, participated in the camp in two levels to accommodate all skill levels.

This year, Impulse invited Heather Cave, a graduate from the Royal Academy of Dance, to teach.

Tocher explained that she and her sister had known and danced with Cave since they were young girls.

“She is certified in Ballet Education and is also an expert at Irish,” said Tocher, adding that Cave has competed in world championships in the Irish discipline.

The Impulse Dance camp was a great opportunity for dancers aged six to 17 to come out and learn some new moves.

Impulse Dance Studio will be holding its registration for the 2009/2010 season on August 26 and September 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the studio.
